SiliconExpert and Zuken Team to Deliver Critical Component Data Intelligence to Engineers

BOSTON - April 2, 2019

SiliconExpert and Zuken now connect the component library to the supply chain through an advanced integration, feeding real time, accurate component information drawn from 34 million components, straight to the desktop.

SiliconExpert, a world leader in electronic component databases and parts information, has partnered with Zuken®, a leading EDA software provider, to deliver critical component information to engineers within their design environment. The new integration enables engineers to make better component selection decisions, resulting in higher quality products and lower costs in less time.

SiliconExpert and Zuken now connect the component library to the supply chain through an advanced integration, feeding real time, accurate component information drawn from 34 million components, straight to the desktop.

"Zuken's advanced PCB development environment offers the quintessential location for engineers to improve their component selection decisions," said Martin Chatterton, Director & General Manager –SiliconExpert. "Acquiring the latest component information can be an arduous task for an engineer. They want to design exciting new products, not research the latest lifecycle status or part lead-time. Partnering with Zuken will help our customers build better products faster and cheaper."

SiliconExpert provides the dynamic commerce data to complement the CAD library data. With the new integration, Zuken's engineering data management system (DS-CR) uses RESTful APIs to pull data updates directly from SiliconExpert on a user-defined frequency. SiliconExpert's updated data, combined with DS-CR, provide the following benefits:

· Elimination of stale or inaccurate commerce data from the corporate library
· High risk parts are flagged during the component selection process
· Proactive engineering team alerts during the entire development cycle based on critical component status changes (e.g., lifecycle status)
· Consolidation of critical component data reducing component research and selection time

"As products become more complex and competition increases, component selection can make or break a new product introduction," says Bob Potock, Vice President of Marketing at Zuken USA, Inc. "By partnering with SiliconExpert, Zuken puts reliable and up-to-date component information in the hands of the design team, resulting in better component selection and ultimately better products."

SiliconExpert and EMA Design Automation Join Forces to Help Engineers Avoid Costly Redesigns

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - May 21, 2019

SiliconExpert, a world leader in electronic component databases and parts information have joined forces with EMA Design Automation®, an innovator in the development of electronic product design solutions and methodologies, to eliminate unnecessary re-designs due to component sourcing issues.

The two companies are combining forces to enable engineers to stay one step ahead of obsolescence, compliance and inventory risk during the design stage. Equipping engineers with data early in the design process will enable companies to avoid costly redesigns and time-to-market delays later.

Through advanced partner integrations, SiliconExpert and EMA Design Automation will feed real-time component information, drawn from over a billion components, straight to a design engineer's desktop. This integrated CAD tool intelligence allows a design engineer to make the right component selection the first time based on component availability, compliance, risk, and obsolescence criteria. Enabling engineers to make these critical decisions at the start of the design process ensures uninterrupted delivery schedules with an accurate supply-chain-ready BOM.

"Obsolete parts, RoHS / REACH compliance issues, inadequate stock—almost every engineer has been bitten by one of these issues at some point within their supply chain," says Manny Marcano, president, EMA Design Automation. "Too often we hear from customers that their BOMs are being rejected by supply chain due to component sourcing issues that were not identified at the design phase. This adds weeks if not months to overall time-to-market. By joining of forces with SiliconExpert we can enable engineers to define pertinent parts at the conceptual design phase, which has become a cornerstone of a successful design methodology. "

"SiliconExpert provides dynamic commerce data which reinforces the engineer's CAD library data," says Martin Chatterton, director and general manager of SiliconExpert. "This dynamic data gives every company the ability to build better, budget-conscious products faster."

This new collaboration will provide design teams with the supply chain optimized tools and data they need to avoid unnecessary component sourcing issues and re-designs, so they can bring their products to market successfully.

New Risk Assessment Tool from SiliconExpert and EMA Design Automation Prevents BOM Rejection

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Aug. 12, 2019

SiliconExpert, a world leader in electronic component databases and parts information alongside EMA Design Automation, an innovator in the development of electronic product design solutions and methodologies, announced the first product of their collaboration: SiliconExpert CONNECT BOM Risk for OrCAD.

Through advanced collaboration, SiliconExpert and EMA Design Automation feed real-time component information, drawn from over a billion components, straight to a design engineer's desktop. This integrated CAD tool intelligence is designed to allow a design engineer to make the right component selection the first time based on component availability, compliance, risk, and obsolescence criteria, preventing unnecessary BOM rejection and re-spins.

"Engineers can now leverage real-time data from SiliconExpert without leaving their OrCAD design environment," said Manny Marcano, president, EMA Design Automation. "This finally provides engineers access to the same data supply chain and procurement professionals rely on to validate engineering BOMs. Now, they can make educated part decisions upfront, preventing late-stage design changes due to downstream BOM rejection."

SiliconExpert CONNECT BOM Risk is the first of many integrated applications to be delivered between SiliconExpert and EMA Design Automation in their mission to fully optimize electronic product design.

"Our goal is to meet engineers in the tools they work in every day and give them unique and valuable features/functionality to optimize design time," said Martin Chatterton, director and general manager of SiliconExpert. "The dynamic data intelligence of SiliconExpert CONNECT BOM Risk gives companies the ability to build better, budget-conscious products the first time."

SiliconExpert Now Offers ECAD Model Footprints and Symbols through Teaming with Ultra Librarian

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Sept. 12, 2019. SiliconExpert has teamed with Ultra Librarian to provide engineers access to a cloud-based database of over 14 million pre-built schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D models directly within the SiliconExpert platform.

With this new partnership between Ultra Librarian and SiliconExpert, engineers can now search for components, cross references, pricing, stock/inventory, compliance specs, and now get free symbols, footprints, and 3D models, all in one place.

"Engineers can now leverage Ultra Librarian part data directly within SiliconExpert," said Manny Marcano, president of EMA Design Automation. "Now engineers have access to a complete, superset of data they can use to make educated part decisions, ensure parts are orderable, and meet life cycle needs. Additionally, it will allow them the ability to directly download the appropriate ECAD models, so they can spend less time designing parts and more time working on critical design tasks."

Available through SiliconExpert Part Search and API Part Details, CAD models can be downloaded into the users' library in more than 20 different formats, including Cadence, Mentor and Zuken. With the integration of Ultra Librarian, users can avoid problems in the future with accurate data.

"The addition of ECAD models to SiliconExpert continues to fulfill our goal of providing engineering with unique and valuable features to help optimize their design time," said Martin Chatterton, director and general manager of SiliconExpert. "This strategic alliance provides every company the opportunity to work more efficiently and build better, budget-conscious products the first time."
